We have seen this before—and history shows us what that can do.

In our groups, the recognition moment produced relief—but not yet mobilization. One participant watched a video about a working mother juggling jobs and debt and asked: “Why do we have to live like this? There’s no reason for it.”

That is the shift from this is hard to this is wrong. Recognition and named responsibility have to arrive together: this is happening to all of us, it is not okay, and someone is accountable.

What is missing is specificity: who made these choices, what they chose instead, and what could concretely be different. When we can answer those questions, the frame becomes actionable.

Time is that moment—waiting to happen.
